Ubisoft has announced that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed until the 14th of February 2025.

In a press release, Ubisoft said that learning from the release of Star Wars Outlaws led them to delay the game. To give them time to polish the game before release.

Listening to players’ feedback, and as an illustration of our player-centric approach, the
following important decisions relative to Assassin’s Creed Shadows have been taken:

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows will now be released on 14 February 2025. While the game
is feature complete, the learnings from the Star Wars Outlaws release led us to provide
additional time to further polish the title. This will enable the biggest entry in the
franchise to fully deliver on its ambition, notably by fulfilling the promise of our dual
protagonist adventure, with Naoe and Yasuke bringing two very different gameplay
    styles.
  • We are departing from the traditional Season Pass model. All players will be able to
enjoy the game at the same time on February 14 and those who preorder the game
will be granted the first expansion for free.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was supposed to be released on the 15th of November this year.

AC Shadows is the first Assassin’s Creed game to be set in Japan. In the game, players live the intertwined stories of Naoe, an adept shinobi Assassin from Iga Province, and Yasuke, the powerful African samurai of historical legend. Against the backdrop of the turbulent late Sengoku period, this remarkable duo will discover their common destiny as they usher in a new era for Japan.

I was looking forward to AC Shadows but I am kind of glad it has gotten delayed, just too many games are coming out at the same time. At the end of October, there is Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate for PSVR2 and Dragon Age The Veilguard. In November there is Metro Awakening VR and Lego Horizon Adventures.

So, when you think about it, it’s actually quite handy that Assasin’s Creed Shadows got delayed a bit.
