Astro Bot reviews were out yesterday and the 3D platformer from Team Asobi has garnered critical acclaim. So much acclaim that it has become Metacritic’s 5th highest-rated PS5 game of all time and the highest-rated standalone game of the year.
Astro Bot is in good company in Metacritic’s top 5 PS5 games. Only slightly lower rated than Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree. With a Metascore of 94, Astro Bot ties with The Witcher 3’s PS5 version.
As for games released this year, Astro Bot is the highest-rated standalone game released in 2024. Only Elden Ring’s DLC is rated higher with a Metascore of 95.
