We’re only just over a couple of weeks away from geting our hands on the latest expansions to the most amazing game of 2017, Assassin’s Creed Origins. Curse of the Pharaohs is due to release on Tuesday March 13th and Ubisoft has released a tide of new information and details about the expansion to make our mouths water.
As well as some tasty new screenshots and artwork, Ubisoft has posted an article on their blog detailing some fantastic sounding new stuff that will be coming with Curse of the Pharaohs.
The main story of Curse of the pharaohs will take Bayek to a place called Thebes to find a mysterious artifact. Whilst in Thebes he runs into some undead Pharaohs who are materializing in the streets and killing innocent civilians.
Turns out some grave robbers have been robbing some graves in The Valley of the Kings and pissed off said Pharaohs. Bayek will have to go hunt down artifacts linked to each Pharaoh in order to send them back to the afterlife for good.

From the in-game atlas we know that Curse of the Pharaohs will take place in the Valley of the Kings, the article on the Ubisoft blog describes the new area as “vast” and given that the new level cap is 55 and that Curse of the Pharaohs is a higher price point than The Hidden Ones, it’s safe to say that Curse of the Pharaohs will be far more substantial in both size of the area and content.
The aforementioned Thebes is a massive city and will feature new temples of Karnak and Luxor and across the River Nile there will be the main Valley of the Kings area which features plundered tombs of the Egyptian Pharaohs.
It seems that Bayeks adventures won’t just be contained to the more earthly places, Bayek will also have to enter the individual afterlives of the undead Pharaohs. These afterlives are like big, self-contained open worlds connected to portals in the Pharaohs’ tombs.
These Egyptian afterlife worlds are to be filled with exotic loot, barges and mythical creatures, there is also Anubis-like guards that patrol the afterlife.

We’ll also have to fight massive scorpions going by the screenshot above. This screenshot was originally uploaded to a game press website and was labeled as a DLC1 screenshot, but we now know that we’ll be fighting these huge things in Curse of the Pharaohs.
As well as some really cool sounding new locations for Bayek to visit and explore there is a ton of other really awesome sounding stuff packed in to Curse of the Pharaohs.
We know that the level cap is increasing to 55 and there will be seven new abilities to unlock including one called Overpower Fury which heals Bayek and removes any status ailments when you perform an Overpower attack.
There is also four new archery abilities which will allow Bayek to infect predator bow kills with flesh decay, penetrate through enemy shields with a fully charged hunter bow, get more damage out of light bows by getting consecutive hits and inflict bleeding to hits from your warrior bow.
The new skills will require a total of 15 ability points to unlock so there’s plenty to grind for.
The new level cap and abilities will certainly come in handy as there will be Shadows of the Pharaohs randomly appearing throughout the new world which Bayek must defeat for some sweet, sweet loot. Shadows of the Pharaohs are physical manifestations of the undead Pharaohs and you will only have a limited time window to track them down and send them temporarily back to the afterlife.
Curse of the Pharaohs New Trophies

Just like The Hidden Ones, Curse of the Pharaohs will also get some new trophies to unlock. In total there are six new trophies including one hidden trophy. There is 4 Bronze trophies and 2 Silver trophies.
