Although we know the gameplay of Saros will essentially be an “evolution” of the Returnal gameplay, this will be the first time we have seen actual gameplay from Saros.
Saros was first revealed during PlayStation’s February 2025 State of Play. Saros is a third-person action game with the haunting story of a lost off-world colony on Carcosa under an ominous eclipse. In Saros you play as Arjun Devraj, a powerful Soltari Enforcer who will stop at nothing to find who he is looking for.
Of the game, Housemarque said their goal is to “create an emotional and powerful character study that explores the cost it takes to create a new future.”

One of the main differences between Saros and Returnal is that in Saros you have permanent resources and progression. This makes every death valuable, and Arjun will “come back stronger.” Like Returnal, after each death in Saros you will face a changed world, but you will be able to choose and permanently upgrade your loadout from an evolving set of weapons and suit parts.
Saros will be releasing on PS5 with an enhanced PS5 Pro version in 2026.
