Hello Games Releases the No Man’s Sky Desolation Update

Explore procedurally generated haunted freighters in the Desolation update

No Man's Sky Desolation update

I’m thinking now might be a good time to get back into No Man’s Sky. As Hello Games have just released the Desolation update, which brings with it some cool new story content and other additional features.

The Desolation update was actually released earlier but was sort of Mysterious and unexpected. As no one really knew what the 11 GB mysterious update contained.

But now we do know, as Hello Games have updated the official No Man’s Sky website with all the details. And a new trailer.

What’s in the No Man’s Sky Desolation update?

Quite a lot. The Desolation update for No Man’s Sky brings procedurally generated wreckages of derelict freighters. You can explore and scavenge in the derelict freighters, which have procedurally generated interiors.

The derelict freighters are fraught with danger though and some of them are infested with alien creatures and automated turret weapons to avoid.

The derelict freighters also have new, unique. procedurally generated story to tell. You can uncover hints and information about the crewmember’s fate by uncovering ship logs and personal effects. With the ultimate goal of gaining access to the Captain’s Log, to read about the final hours of the doomed freighter.

These haunting derelict freighters will also contain vital technology to salvage, that can be used to upgrade your own freighter.

No Man's Sky Desolation update freigher customisation

The Desolation update also includes Freighter customisation. You can buy different colourisations for 5000 Nantes each and apply them to your freighter.

Teleporters can now be built on freighters, allowing you to teleport between bases, space stations and your capital ship.

The No Man’s Sky Desolation update sounds pretty good, especially the derelict freighters. Exploring them will be a lot of fun. Since the Beyond update, you can also play No Man’s Sky in PlayStation VR. That’s certain to make exploring the haunted freighters even scarier.
