Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered has been rated by the Entertainment Sofware Ratings Bord (ESRB) in North America. Some outlets are describing this as a “leak” but I would say this is more of a confirmation. A confirmation that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is coming.

A Horizon Zero Dawn remaster was rumoured (leaked) back in October 2022. Back then, the original rumour wasn;t quite sure if it was a remake or remaster. But it seems that the ESRB has confirmed that it is actually a remaster.

The rating on the ESRB for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is still visible on the ESRB website. If it was an accidental leak by the ratings board it probably would have been removed by now. The remaster is at the top of the ESRB’s most-viewed games.

A State of Play broadcast from PlayStation is currently rumoured to take place on September 24th. This is most likely where the Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster will be officially revealed. So far it seems taht the remaster of 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn, the first in the series, has only been rated by the ESRB. But a rating can usually mean that a release isn’t too far off.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered – Pointless or Necessary?

HJorizon Zero Dawn was originally released in 2017, seven years ago. Back then, it was graphically impressive as well as being impressive in many other regards. Of course, its 2022 sequel Horizon Forbidden West improved upon its predecessor in almost every way, but it is still hard to believe that Sony thinks a remaster of Zero Dawn is required.

Horizon Zero Dawn can be played on PS5 right now and it runs perfectly fine. Granted, it does show it’s age a bit in some regards but it is perfectly playable. You just know Sony is most likely going to slap a $70/£70 price tag on the remaster and it is hard to imagine the scale of improvements that could be made to justify a £70 purchase of a game that most PlayStation fans will probably still own.

But if they are going down The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered route and offering a £10/$10 upgrade for PS4 owners then that would be acceptible.

What features could Sony add to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered to make it worth the upgrade? Well, they willprobably add more accessibilty features to keep it inline with the features found in Forbidden West, Spider-Man 2 The Last of Us Rematered, etc. Of course there will be improvements to graphics and frame rates as well. And a seperate trophy list so you can earn the platinum all over again is probably another plus point. There will most certainlybe PS5 Pro enhancements as well.

The Horizon Zero Dawn remaster is presumabley being worked on by Guerrilla Games themselves. ANd although Sony is still to official announce the remaster, with it now being rated, an official reveal is probably iminent
