When I first started playing Astro Bot, I was thinking to myself “This game could really use a photo mode.” As I played through the game a bit more I realised it does have a photo mode, you just have to unlock it first. So here’s how to unlock Astro Bot’s photo mode.
Unlocking Astro Bot’s Photo Mode
The first thing you need to do is collect a total of 64 puzzle pieces from the various levels. Once you have 64 puzzle pieces, head back to the Crash Site (the main hub area) and you can then unlock the Safari Park.
Once inside the Safari Park, one of the first things you will see is the opportunity to take a photo. Once you have done this and earned the Strike a Pose! trophy you will get Astro’s camera. You can now press UP on the d-pad to access photo mode when you are on any level.
The photo mode in Astro Bot is pretty basic, you won’t find any filters, colour controls, aperture settings or any other fancy features you might find in a lot of game photo modes these days. With Astro Bot’s photo mode, you can raise the camera up and down and move the camera using the DualSesne gyro controls. You can also change emotes, which just changes the look of Astro’s eyes.
Despite the lack of features found in other photo modes such as Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man 2 and Rise of the Ronin, Astro Bot is one of the funniest games to take screenshots in. Probably because the levels look absolutely beautiful.
Once you have unlocked the photo mode in Astro Bot you are going to have a ton of fun and spend a lot of time taking some amazing virtual photography snaps.
