Insomniac Games Asks for Patience from Fans Wanting to See More from Spider-Man 2

Spider-Man 2 is cooking nicely and smells good but developer asks for a little patience

Insomniac Games has asked fans for “a little more patience” when asked why they haven’t shown anything of the game for two years.

Replying to a fan on Twitter who asked why the studio hasn’t done anything in 2 years to show more from Spider-Man 2, when it is apparently supposed to launch in the Fall of this year Insomniac Games responded by saying “Because we’re in the kitchen. It smells good in there, but we just ask for a little more patience.”

Given Insomniac’s reply, it sounds like the game is almost done but not quite ready yet to show off to the public.

Gameplay footage of the 2018 Spider-Man PS4 game was first revealed (I think) in April 2018 along with a host of other details. Marvel’s Spider-Man was released in September 2018.

Understandably fans are concerned about the lack of information and gameplay footage from the upcoming Spider-Man 2. But the timescales compared to Spider-Man on PS4 could mean that Sony is simply leaving all the gameplay and juicy details or its supposedly upcoming Showcase in May or Early June.

Further up in the Twitter thread posted above, Insomniac did reaffirm the Fall 2023 release date. So it does seem that the game is on track for a release later this year but Insomniac just wants it to be perfect before showing it off.

I don’t blame Insomniac and PlayStation for wanting to wait until the game is absolutely ready. I mean, how many times have developers shown stuff way too early that has ended up backfiring? Either because the game just wasn’t up to scratch yet or it generated too much hype that the game just could not live up to.

All good things come to those who wait.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be exclusive to PS5 when it swings on to sale later this year.
