Insomniac Games Gives Some More Details on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Hints at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

SSpider-Man: Miles Morales upgrade path probably won't save you money

Man, PlayStation 5 Information is coming thick and fast these days. Yesterday, Guerilla Games talked more about Horizon Forbidden West. Today Insomniac  Games is letting loose with some more details on the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales stand-alone game.

In a post over at the Official PlayStation Blog, a Creative Director on the game at Insomniac shared some more information on the PS5 exclusive title.

In the post, Insomniac’s Creative Director talks about how the standalone game came to be. “At Insomniac Games, we’ve loved the character of Miles Morales for a long time.”

Insomniac’s Creative Director goes on to explain that as they continued with the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, they knew that the origin story of Miles as a Spider-Man needed its own game.

“We wanted to give players a new story, with new set-pieces, fresh villains, and unique quests across Marvel’s New York City.” Brian Horton, Creative Director for Insomniac Games tells PlayStation Blog.

The post also talks a bit about the setting of the new game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set in wintertime. A year after the events of the first game. Marvel’s New York City is blanketed by snow. And, just before Christmas time of all times, a war breaks out between an energy corporation and a high-tech criminal army. Maybe the energy company pissed off the criminals by charging too much for electricity?.

As it turns out, Miles’s new home in Harlem is right at the centre of this battle.

Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales

How Big is Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales?

You’ll experience a full story arc with Miles, one that’s more akin to a game like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Insomniac’s Creative Director explains in the blog post that some fans wanted to know how big the game was. Brian tells PlayStation Blog that Insomniac Games has been working on the Miles Morales game since ending development on Marvel’s SPider-Man for PS4. Brian goes on to say that we will experience a full story arc with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Something similar to the size of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Not a bad size then. Not as big in scope or as lengthy in playtime as the first game. But a decent size nonetheless. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was also priced below the usual AAA price of £50.00, so maybe Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be of a similar price.

At the end of the blog post, Brian Horton seemed to tease a wee bit of info about a possible Marvel’s-Spiderman 2. “Don’t worry, we still have much of Peter’s story left to tell.” Brian tells PlayStation Blog. So, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming to PS5 sometime in 2023/2024 maybe?

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is due to launch alongside the PS5 in Holiday 2020.
