The Last of Us Part I has been officially announced and it will be heading to PS5 on September 2nd this year. But pointless remakes aside, The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog has shared some info on its upcoming The Last of Us online/multiplayer game.
When I say they have shared some info, they have only really shared a piece of concept art. But in a Tweet, Naughty Dog did say that more info would be coming next year.
The Last of Us New Multiplayer Game Will Be Larger Than Factions
Although naughty Dog did not really reveal much information about their upcoming “online experience” a post over on the PlayStation Blog did provide a little bit more. The new online game will be much larger than the Factions mode from the original The Last of Us game.
The Last of Us Faction multiplayer mode was very popular amongst PlayStation Fans. There was supposed to be a multiplayer mode with The Last of Us Part 2, but that got changed into the much larger offering Naughty Dog is currently working on.
However, we can finally announce that we’re creating something much larger than a mode.
Whatever this new The Last of Us online game is it’s a safe bet that it will be a larger live service type game. Sony INteractive Entertainment Chief Jim Ryan has already stated that the company wants to release 10 live service games by early 2026.
