Resident Evil Village, details, release date

Some new details on Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil Village have been revealed during the Resident Evil Showcase that took place earlier tonight. We got a first look at some frightening PS5 gameplay as well as a release date for the latest game in the Resident Evil franchise.

Resident Evil Village Release Date

Game producer Peter Fabiano revealed the release date for Resident Evil Village during the showcase. The game will release worldwide on 7th May 2021. RE Village will also be coming to PS4, as well as PS5 on the same date.

The PS4 version will be able to be upgraded to the digital version of the PS5 game at no additional cost. Cool.

You’ll be able to pre-order Resident Evil Village starting from today. Although it looks like the official Resident Evil website and PlayStation Store is still to be updated. Edit: Game is now listed for pre-order on the PlayStation Store.

Exclusive PS5 Demo

An exclusive PS5 demo of Resident Evil Village will also be released today. The demo, which is called “Maiden” features a playable character called the “Maiden”, so you won’t be playing as Ethan Winters in this demo. The demo also won’t feature any combat either but will be more a visual and audio experience.

As of writing, the demo does not yet appear to be available on the PlayStation Store – at least in the UK anyway.

EDIT: Demo is now available on the PlayStation Store.

Resident Evil Village will feature a similar inventory management system to Resident Evil 4, but this time Capcom has introduced crafting. You’ll be able to craft things like first aid kits and ammo, assuming you have the required resources.

There will also be plenty of weapons to find and utilise in the game. Including Sniper Rifles, shotguns and handguns.

There will also be a merchant called “The Duke” a very fat looking chap who you can go to buy and sell weapons and other things.
