PlayStation has acquired Firewalk Studios and has been welcomed into the PlayStation Studios family by PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst.

Announcing the news on the PlayStation Blog Hulst said that PlayStation “continues to be impressed by the team’s ambitions to build a modern multiplayer game that connects players in new and innovative ways.”

Hulst also said that Firewalk Studios will bring their technical and creative expertise to help grow PlayStation live service operations. And that the team is currently working on their first AAA multiplayer game for PlayStation.

Firewalk Studios was founded in 2018 by a bunch of industry vets including ex-Bungie employees and Activision employees. Their as-of-yet unknown multiplayer game is being headed by ex-Destiny Creative Director Ryan Ellis (Source: Eurogamer).

Firewalk was previously a part of Probably Monsters, a studio set up by ex-Bungie chief Harold Ryan.

PlayStation had previously partnered with Probably Monsters and Firewalk Studios on the AAA multiplayer game before deciding to acquire the studio.
