Sony Interactive Entertainment has hired an ex-Apple executive to oversee its PlayStation Store and direct-to-consumer business.

Ben King has been hired by PlayStation as Vice President of direct-to-consumer, which includes the PlayStation Store Variety reports.

As VP of PlayStation’s direct-to-consumer business, King reports directly to Veronica Rogers, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Business Operations. (I wonder if this is who decided games should be £70)

Speaking about his new job as Store Manager (that’s essentially what his job is I guess), Ben King said: “The PlayStation Store has become one of the most visited digital media stores on the planet. This gives us the unique opportunity to think creatively about the relationship with our users, helping them to unlock maximum fun and joy from the PlayStation ecosystem, while simultaneously creating financial opportunity for our games studio partners.”

I think the above part of Ben’s statement is the most important. As we all know this is business speak for “milking every penny from PlayStation users, so PlayStation and game developer and publisher partners can have massive profits to spend on pointless statues for their office.” Or something along those lines.

Anyway, we at PlayStation Fanatic wish Ben King every success in his new role. Just don’t try to rip us off.
