Sony Interactive Entertainment has partnered with popular Gaming chat and communication service Discord. The partnership will see Discord integrated into PS5 and PS4 from early next year.

In a post on sie.com, CEO Jim Ryan says that PlayStation is always looking for new ways for gamers to connect to one another, form friendships and communities and share experiences. It is for these reasons that PlayStation ahs partnered with Discord.

The partnership with Discord comes in the form of SIE making a minority investment during a Discord funding round.

Ryan further explains that this partnership means that Discord will be integrated into our social and gaming experience on the PlayStation network.

Together, our teams are already hard at work connecting Discord with your social and gaming experience on PlayStation Network. Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile starting early next year, allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate more easily while playing games together.

SIE has not revealed any details on how Discord will integrate with PlayStation Network and the PlayStation ecosystem. I would imagine there might be a discord app you can install on your PS5 or PS4 and you are your friends can use it to chat while gaming. Instead of using PlayStations built-in party chat feature.

Many PlayStation fans have asked for Discord integration in the past, It looks like Sony is listening to its player base and making the right moves to keep fans happy and engaged.
