PlayStation has announced an increase to PlayStation Plus subscription prices for new users starting on May 20th.
The price hikes to PlayStation Plus were revealed by the Official PlayStation Account on X.
The price increase only seems to be affecting 1-month and 3-month subscriptions (for now) and only applies to new subscribers. It will only affect existing subscribers to PlayStation Plus unless the subscription changes or lapses, the PlayStation post says.
For UK subscribers, the 1-month sub price is rising to £7.99 a month, up £1 from £6.99. The 3-month sub price is increasing by £2m from £19.99 up to £21.99. The prices given in the post only seem to apply to the Essential tier. Price increases will no doubt be applied to the Extra and Premium tiers as well, as PlayStation included the “prices will start at” wording in their post.
Although price increases are never welcome, especially with the prices of absolutely everything increasing lately. It is this author’s opinion that PlayStation Plus will still remain a pretty good value for money.
