PS VR2 pre-order launchg ames and PS VR2 headset

Update 17/11/2022: I made a mistake with The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners Ch 2 date it is actually releasing on 21st March 2023, not 22nd February. I have also added No Man’s Sky as the PS VR2 update is releasing on the 22nd of February.

Update 27/11/2022: Added Kayak VR: Mirage as a PS VR2 launch game.

Pre-orders for PlayStation VR2 have begun today if you were lucky enough to get an invite from Sony that is. If you have managed to receive an invite you’ll be able to order the PS VR2 headset with the Sense controller or The PS VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain. You’ll also be able to pre-order the Sense controller charging station. But that’s not all, there are also some PS VR2 games that you can pre-order as well.

Here is the current list of PS VR2 games you can pre-order from the PlayStation Store and their prices.

PS VR2 Launch Games: PS VR2 games you can pre-order

All of the games listed below will release on February 22nd, 2023 with the exception of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Ch 2 which is releasing on 21st March 2023. It’s still a launch window game though. Bear in mind that Sony requires an upfront payment when pre-ordering games from the PlayStation Store. Also, these are digital games and won’t ever be out of stock so there is no real reason to pre-order unless you want to save a few quid with the PS Plus discounts that are available for some games.

Horizon Call of The Mountain

Horizon Call of the Mountain art

Release Date: 22/2/2023
Price: £59.99
PlayStation Store link

Horizon Call of the Mountain sounds like it will be an epic VR adventure set in the Horizon universe. Although you don’t play as Aloy in this game, you do meet her at some point. The game will elt you conquer massive peaks and take on fearsome machines as you experience the world of Horizon from a new perspective.

The individual price of Horizon Call of the Mountain is quite a bit more than the other PS VR2 games listed here. With a price of £60.00, you are definitely better off pre-ordering the Horizon Call of the Mountain PS VR2 bundle at £570.00 as you will essentially get the game for £40.00 saving yourself £20.00.

Developer Guerrilla Games has said that more news on Horizon Call of the Mountain will come this week.

Cities VR is priced at a reasonable £24.99 and you can even save a bit with a PS Plus discount. The discount ends of release day though so you’ll need to pre-order for the saving.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinenrs - Chapter 2: Retribution logo

Release Date: 21/3/2023
Price: £32.99 (base game), £49.99 (Ch 1 & 2 Deluxe Edition), £39.99 (payback edition)
PlayStation Store link

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Ch2 Retribution is probably my most anticipated PS VR2 game, even more than Horizon Call of the Mountain. I absolutely loved the first game on PS VR and even managed to get the Platinum trophy. Chapter 2: Retribution looks set to be even bigger and better than the first game with it using the Power of PS5 and the PS VR2’s tech.

Chapter 2: Retribution has three editions to choose from: The standard, base game edition, A deluxe Edition that has the previous game and chapter 2 and the Payback edition which has the base game and comes with weapon recipes and a couple of other in-game items.

Cosmonious High comes from the developers of PS VR titles Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator so this will probably be pretty good and filled with laughs and other physics-based hilarity. Cosmonious High is the second most discounted game on this list and you can save £6 if you are pre-ordering with your PS Plus membership.

Demeo

Release Date: 22/2/2023
Price: £32.99 (£26.39 with PS Plus discount)
PlayStation Store link

Demeo is an online co-op adventure game for up to four players where you can take on the role of either an Assassin, Guardian, Hunter or Sorcerer. Being an online co-op game makes it unappealing to me but I’m sure loads of other players will probably find it fun. Demeo is the most discounted game on this list and you can save yourself a whopping £6.60 if you pre-order and have a PS Plus subscription.

The game is priced at £32.99 but it does look like it might be worth the money.

No Man’s Sky

PlayStation Store link

Hello Games’ excellent space exploration game is getting a PS VR2 update which will be completely free. No Man’s Sky is already on PS4, PS VR and PS5. The PS VR2 version sounds like the immersion will be incredible and I can’t wait to go exploring in PS VR2. You’ll need to own the PS4 or PS5 version to get the update (the PS5 version was also a free update for PS4 owners.)

Kayak VR: Mirage

Kayak VR: Mirage is a jaw-dropping and exhilarating journey through beautiful and unique locations tailor-made for VR. It certainly does look jaw-droppingly stunning, in fact, in this review on PC VR the reviewer called it “the best-looking VR game ever.”

Other Announced PS VR2 Games

That is all the PS VR2 games that have prices and that you can pre-order right now. There are other games that are showing on the PlayStation Store that are “announced” but have no prices and are not available for pre-order yet. These are:

Hopefully, these games will get release dates, prices and pre-order links soon to fill out the PlayStation VR2 launch lineup a bit.

Out of the launch games listed above, there are only really three that I am particularly interested in; Horizon Call of the Mountain, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Ch2 Retribution and Stars Wars Tales from the Galaxies Edge. Right now, the PS VR2 launch lineup is looking a little sparse with probably the aforementioned three games being potential system sellers.

There are lots more games confirmed for PS VR2 though, so hopefully, some of these will get launch dates and further information as we move closer to the launch of PlayStation VR2.
