PS5 Pro WIll Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

PS5 Pro power will make PSVR2 gaming much smoother, meaning less VR motion sickness

If you have been playing PSVR2 for a while and are still struggling to get your VR legs then PS5 Pro might be the answer. There’s nothing worse than feeling a bit queasy during a PSVR2 gaming session, I’ve been there. On PSVR1 I could not play Wipeout for longer than a minute without feeling that I was going to throw up.

Thankfully, I have found my VR legs after years of VR gaming on PSVR and PSVR2. But if you are still struggling with certain games then upgrading to the PS5 Pro might help.

Japanese website 4gamer.net recently interviewed Toshimasa Aoki, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Senio Principal Product Manager at SIE’s Global Product Planning Department. 4gamer asked Aoki if the pSVR2 would benefit from variable frame rate and other features of the PS5 Pro.

Aoki explained that frame drops (an unstable frame rate) can cause motion sickness. This is especially true in Virtual Reality gaming. Aoki said that by using the power of the PS5 Pro to create much smoother framerates this can prevent motion sickness in VR games.

Of course. Frame drops can affect game sickness, especially with VR hardware, so if you can use the performance of the PS5 Pro to play more smoothly, it will be easier to prevent such problems.

Aoki also that that in the future Sony is considering whether they can link the PS5 Pro’s PSSR (PlayStation Super Spectral Resolution) with the PlayStation VR2.

So there you have it. No longer will you have to eat some ginger biscuits or drink some ginger beer to try and alleviate VR motion sickness. Just upgrade to the £700.00 PS5 Pro that doesn’t come with a disc drive.
