The PS5 welcome hub is a new personalised space on the PS5 home screen. It launched in the US in an update in September but it has now landed on PS5 in the UK.
The Welcome Hub is kind of like the What’s New feature on PS4 except it is much more customisable.
I am not sure exactly when the welcome hub appeared on UK (and presumably European) PS5s but I noticed it earlier today. And I don’t think it was there yesterday.

The Welcome Hub is a pretty cool feature that can be customised by adding, removing, resizing and moving certain widgets. With the Welcome Hub on your home screen, you can see things like your online friends, your trophies and your DualSense charge at a glance. There is also a News widget, a widget for accessing your Media Gallery and widget where you can view your PS5 storage as well.
There are 12 widgets that you can show, hide, move about or resize within the Welcome Hub.
- Trophies
- Online Friends
- Battery level
- Storage Summary
- News
- New to PlayStation Plus
- Media Gallery
- Accessibility
- Friend Activity
- Messages
- Wishlist
- PlayStation Store

You can also change the background of your welcome hub by selecting images from PlayStation, a cool animated Astro Bot background or a screenshot from one of your games.

You can add or remove whatever widgets you like and widgets can be resized to three different sizes. So you can have three widgets stacked on top of each other. A bigger widget and smaller widget stacked or just one big widget.
Of course, any new PS5 feature is ultimately pretty cool to begin with. But whether the Welcome Hub turns into something useful or just something you bypass only time will tell.
