In a presentation and speech transcript, Sony’s CFO and COO Hiroki Totoki detailed Sony’s long-term vision that will lead the Japanese tech giant into the future.

Ten years from now, we will be living in a more multi-layered world where physical and virtual realities overlap without boundaries. If Sony, as a creative entertainment company, would be filling the world with new Kando in that future, what kind of experiential value would we be offering to make that happen? To explore this question, we conducted a prototyping exercise under the concept of “Creative Entertainment Vision.” Envisioning through the lens of Sony’s creativity and technology

Sony’s creative entertainment vision has three phases to realise their long-term vision.

  1. Creativity Unleashed – Harness technology to unleash the creativity of creators around the world, transcending physical, virtual and time dimensions.
  2. Boundaries Transcended – Connect diverse people and values across boundaries to foster vibrant communities.
  3. Narratives Everywhere – Together with creators, aim to create exciting experiences rich in narrative that go beyond imagination, spreading them as new touchpoints for Kando around the world.

Sony’s vision and future plans certainly sound interesting. However, if Sony thinks we are going to be living in a world where physical and virtual realities overlap and co-exist, how come we haven’t had any news on more 1st party PSVR2 games? Maybe their vision will include PS VR3.
