Big news for PlayStation fans today, as it seems a long-awaited PS5 reveal event could be imminent. Sony Chairman and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said today in a Sony Corporation Strategy Meeting that the company plans to introduce a compelling line-up of title for the PS5 soon.

“Games for the PS5 that deliver this new game experience are being made by both first and third-party developers. And we plan to introduce a compelling line-up of titles soon” Yoshida stated in the corporation’s corporate strategy webcast.

The Sony corporate strategy meeting went into a bit more detail on how the PS5 will deliver these new game experiences.

The corporate strategy presentation talked about the PS5’s new SSD technology. In order to increase the sense of immersion in games. Sony aims to increase not only the visual aspect like resolution but also the speed of games.

Through the PS5 custom SSD, Sony plans to realise game data speeds that are 100 times faster than PS4. This means that game load times will be much shorter and players will be able to move through immense game worlds in an instant. Fast travel will actually be fast by the sound of it.

More excitement in games through sensory experience

Sony’s corporate strategy meeting also talked about the PS5’s new DualSense controller. The DualSense will provide gamers with more of a sensory experience than ever before.

Using the haptic feedback in the DualSense, developers can create a feeling of heaviness when a car drives over a muddy road for example. Or a sense of tautness when a bow is pulled back. Recently, a developer also mentioned that the DualSense will let you feel the rain and other weather effects. These sensations will make PS5 games much more immersive.

The super-fast SSD along with the haptic feedback of the DualSense. And the new 3D audio processing unit in the PS5 will make the next-generation of games much more immersive and awesome.

It was not mentioned in the corporate strategy meeting exactly how soon we will get to see the new line-up of PS5 games. Or if we will get to see the console design unveiled.

Rumours are pointing towards early June for some kind of reveal event.
