Foxhunts in Walkabout Mini Golf are fun Treasure Hunts found within the hard versions of all the courses. You might also call them scavenger hunts.
Essentially, you have to find and solve clues which then lead you to more clues and so on and so forth. After you have found all the clues you are rewarded with a new putter.
In this guide, I’ll show where to find all the clues for the foxhunt on the Tourist Trap course.
The Tourist Trap course is set on a rocky island and has a shipwrecked, pirate theme. It’s quite a fun little diversion away from playing the main game and gets you a cool new putter.
Walkabout Mini Golf Tourist Trap Fox Hunt Guide and Walkthrough
The first thing you will need to do is unlock the hard version of the Tourist Trap course. To do this yo will have to get a score of par or better (par or under par) to unlock the hard course. Tourist Trap is probably one of the first base game courses you will play, it is also one of the easiest. So getting par or better shouldn’t be too much bother after some practice.
In this Foxhunt, you have to find rum bottles which contain clues. The rum bottles lead you to more rum bottles and more clues. To collect the rum bottles, simply point your putter towards the bottle and pull back on the Sense controller stick.

Clue #1
Your first clue can be found on the first hole of Tourist Trap. From where your ball is, just walk forward a bit and look to the right of the path to find the first rum bottle containing the first clue.
The first clue reads:
Welcome to Captain Fawkes’ Treasure Hunt. Find all the bottles with clues inside and you’ll unlock the mystery of his final resting place. Let’s start by getting a full’s eye view of the island. Look below the stairs on your ascent to the 18th hole.
Now that you have the first clue, let’s use that to go and find the second clue.
Clue #2
As the first clue suggests, the second rum bottle containing the second clue is under the stairs on your accent to the sixteenth hole. Press the menu button (X if you are using the right Sense controller) to get an eagle-eye view of the whole island. Look for the 15th hole and you will see the stairs leading up to the 16th.
Go to the third set of stairs on your way up to the 16th hole and you look under the stairs to find the second rum bottle containing Clue 2.
Clue 2 reads:
Fawkes: When me ship wracked on this cursed isle, she lost a mainmast (and most of the souls onboard) Your next clue be floating in the broken Crow’s Nest.
Now it’s on to find the third clue.
Clue #3
As the second clue says, we will find the next clue in the broken crow’s nest. From the clue we can gather that the crow’s nest is probably somewhere near the shore. Go into your eagle-eye view and look for the 14th hole. Teleport to the right of the 14th hole as shown in the image below.
Once you are down on the ground, you can find the crow’s nest lying on some rocks on the shore, near a torch. See the image below.
Collect the rum bottle and read clue number 3.
We survivors — me, me first mate Birch, the cook Reggie, and the Armsman Claudio — Took up residence in the cave. Look around the cave entrance directly below the crane for any loose rum bottles..
Now it’s on to find the fourth rum bottle and clue.
Clue #4
As the third clue suggests, the fourth clue can be found next to a cave entrance. This one is easy to find. Go into your eagle-eye view and look for the seventh hole and you will see the cave entrance near it.
Teleport near to the cave entrance and you can find the fourth rum bottle containing the fourth clue to the right of the entrance. It is next to a small wooden bridge and what looks like two wooden chests.
Collect the rum bottle and take a look at clue number 4 which reads:
I like to keep me eye on things.. Standing right atop cup 9 inside the cave, there be only one torch ye can spy outside…
Now it’s on to find the fifth rum bottle.
Clue #5
As clue 4 suggests, we need to get to hole 9 and find a torch. Head inside the cave and go to the very top hole, this is hole 9. Now, you need to actually stand right on top of the hole 9 cup and look to the outside and you will see only one torch. As shown in the screenshot below. Remember you can also watch the video guide found at the top of the page.
Go outside and make your way towards this torch and you will find the next rum bottle and clue sitting next to it.
Collect the rum bottle and read clue number 5.
Look for your next bottle in a rum barrel ye can putt through. That drunken fool Claudio fell off the bluff near here and deied on the beach below.
Now it’s on to find clue number 6.
Clue #6
As clue 5 suggests, we have to find a hole with a rum barrel we can putt through. To find clue number 6 go back into the eagle-eye view and look for hole number 3 as shown in the image below.
Teleport down to hole 3 and you will find the 6th rum bottle and clue behind the barrel you have to put through.
Collect the rum bottle and take a look at clue number 6.
The armsman set up three cannons at strategic points on the isle before he died. Look for his favourite drinking spot, by the loneliest one.
Now it’s on to find the next clue.
Clue #7
As clue 6 says, we will find the next rum bottle and clue next to a lonely cannon. Go back into the eagle-eye view and look for hole number 4. Teleport down above hole number 4, to the location in between two bridges as shown in the screenshot below.
Once you have teleported to the location shown above, you will see a torch. Look down behind the torch to find the next rum bottle. See the screenshot below.
Collect the rum bottle containing clue number 7 and take a look at the clue. This clue is a sketch showing a cannon next to a tall tower. The cannon has a line of sight to a torch.
Now let’s go and find clue 8 using clue 7.
Clue #8
As clue number 7 seems to show, we need to find a cannon next to a tower. So go back to the eagle-eye view and you should be able to spot the tall wooden tower with the pointy roof. It is high up on the island. If you teleport to near hole 11 you should then be able to see stairs that lead up to it.
Head up the stairs to the tower and you will see the cannon. If you stand directly behind the cannon and look down its line of sight, you will see a wooden house with a torch in front of it, as shown in the screenshots below.
Teleport your way down towards the wooden house and torch. Teleport onto the wooden decked/porch area to the left and then turn around to find the next rum bottle next to a small fence.
Collect the rum bottle and read clue number 8.
Look behind a waterfall on the moonless side of the mountain, where I THOUGHT me hooch would be safe from the wicked cook.
Now let’s go and find clue number 9.
Clue #9
As clue number 8 says, we will find the next bottle of rum behind a waterfall on the moonless side of the mountain. So head back in to eagle-eye view. This was a bit tricky to find but if you teleport near to hole 1 you will see the waterfall if you look around.
When you teleport down, look for the waterfall near some stairs. The rum bottle is hiding behind the waterfall.
Collect the ninth rum bottle and read the clue.
Reginald, ye’ve pinched me precious spicewater for the last time! Meet me in the cave and we shall end this… one way or ‘nother.
Now it’s off to find the 10th rum bottle and clue.
Clue #10
As clue 9 says, we have to go to the cave that we visited previously. Go back to the eagle-eye view and look for the cave entrance near hole 7.
Teleport down to the cave entrance and go inside. Straight across from the cave entrance, you will see a skeleton sitting next to two barrels on a wooden raft-type thing. You’ll also notice the skeleton appears to be drinking from the 10th rum bottle.
Collect the rum bottle and take a look at clue number 10. Clue number 10 is another sketch that looks like a treasure map showing a big X with broken lines.
Now let’s go find the next clue.
Clue #11
As the map from clue 10 seems to suggest, we need to find a large X and then walk a short distance to find the next clue. The large X is actually referring to a particular hole, so go into the eagle-eye view again and locate the hole that has obstacles that look like a big X. Note the gaps in the X as shown in the clue 10 map. Once in the eagle-eye view, look for hole 4 and you will see the obstacle that resembles the X from the map.
Teleport down to hole 4 and then walk forward a little bit. You will find the next rum bottle and clue behind a torch, in between two trees. The rum bottle containing clue 11 is just behind the torch and two trees.
Collect the rum bottle and read the next clue.
My Dear Captain Fawkes, I cannot share this wretched hump of sand with you any-more. For I fear your rum-ravaged mind will finally send me the way of the cook and the cannoneer! I am taking your last bottle and the raft. If you ever wake, do NOT follow me to Cast-Away Isle. -First Mate Birch.
Now let’s go and find the 12th Clue.
Clue #12
To find the 12th clue, we need to first locate Castaway Isle. Head into the eagle-eye view and look around to spot a small island just off from the main island. Teleport onto the wooden dock that you can see in front of the small island. The dock is on the main island and you can’t teleport onto the small island. See the screenshot below for the location.
Teleport down on to the wooden dock and turn to your right to see the rum bottle sitting next to a torch at the edge of the dock.
Collect the rum bottle and read the final clue.
Hmmm. It seems the first mate took off to Castway Cave with the raft. Which would mean there is one deadman left on the island: The Captain. Find him and you will find your treasure!
Let’s go get our treasure.
#13 Getting the Treasure (a new putter)
As clue 12 says, we have to go back to the cave we have been to twice now. So go to the eagle-eye view and teleport next to the cave entrance near hole 7. If you explored the cave a bit while looking for the previous clues you’ll probably know where we have to go.
Head inside the cave and follow the path around until you see a wooden hut with a table that has a candelabra with lit candles on it. Next to this, you will find the skeleton of Captain Fawkes.
Collect the very last rum bottle and that’s it. Congratulations, you have just unlocked a new putter in Walkabout Mini Golf.
The putter you get after completing this Foxhunt is Caltain Fawkes’ Saber. Head back to the main menu and you will find your new putter next to the other putters.
