Another new week is dawning and that means new PS5 and PS4 games are headed our way. There doesn;t seem to be anything new for PSVR2 this week but there’s still a nice selection of new games to choose from.
The biggest title launching this week is Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. It’s a multiplayer live-service type of game and the latest game in the Arkhamverse from developer Rocksteady.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has seen its fair share of delays and fans were a bit miffed by some lacklustre gameplay shown at the State of Play in February last year. However, the game is finally almost here, whether it turns out to be great or another live-service game that will shut down in a year or two remains to be seen. The official Launch date of the game is Friday 2nd of February, but if you have pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition you can play early from January 30th.
It is also worth noting that apparently, reviewers aren’t getting codes for the game until the servers are switched on. So there likely won’t be reviews before the games launch. With that in mind, it is also worth mentioning that the standard digital edition on the PlayStation Store is £70.00. But the standard edition in physical form from Amazon is only £54.99. If you have a PS5 with a disc drive it might be better getting the physical version rather than digital. That way, if the game turns out to be shot you can always sell it or trade it on.
The other two popular titles coming out this week are Persona 3 Reload and Granblue Fantasy: Relink. I don’t know much about Persona 3 Reload but Granblue Fantasy: Relink looks like a fun action RPG.
You Potato I say Brotato
Before I finish off this week’s upcoming games article, it’s worth mentioning a couple of smaller titles arriving this week that you may not be aware of. First up is Brotato, a top-down arena shooter roguelite where you play as a Potato weiling up to six weapons at a time. It’s by a small developer called Blobfish and apparently had quite a successful early access run on Steam. If Potato-based shooters are your thing then you might just enjoy Brotato. It’s coming to PS5 and PS4 on January 30th thanks to porting done by Seaven Studio.
Another smaller title worth mentioning is Dark Light by developer Mirari&Co. It’s a 2D post-apocalyptical cyberpunk action platformer with some insane hack ‘n’ slash combat. I can’t really put my finger on what makes this appealing, maybe it’s just the art style and the hack ‘n’ slash combat. But it might just be worth checking out when it drops on PS5 and PS4 also on January 30th.
