Another new week means another influx of awesome games to play on PS5, PSVR2 and PS4. This week is reasonably packed with new releases, there’s the usual smorgasbord of indie games with a couple of bigger, more well-known franchises thrown in for good measure.
A gift of God of War DLC
This week’s big surprise release and a nice little gift from Santa Monica Studio is God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla. Valhalla is a free DLC for God of War Ragnarok that sees Kratos and Mimir visit the mysterious sores of Valhalla. In short, it’s a roguelike mode where you take on various enemies and try to make your way to the end. The combar has been re-imagined for this new mode. It features the God of War combat you have come to know and love and blends it with fresh, experimental elements inspired by the roguelike genre. The free Valhalla DLC is out on December 12th.
Also noteworthy this week is Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. It’s an action-fighting game and a powered-up, revamped sequel to Granblue Fantasy Versus. Also coming this week is the top-down hack-and-slash RPG Hammerwatch 2. Journey through Hammer Island, the Fallowfields and the dark mountainous regions of Blackbarrow, all created in the signature Hammerwatch pixelated art style.
A smattering of PS VR2 games
Although the PS VR2 release schedule is a bit lighter due to Pneumata and Vertigo 2 getting delayed. There are still three games coming this week for VR fanatics. This week sees VR Tower Defence game Towers and Powers release. And there is also the darkly comedic Not For Broadcast VR that critics have called a “bizarre masterpiece.”
The big PS VR2 game coming this week has to be Five Nights at Freddy’s Help Wanted 2. It’s the PS VR2 sequel to the terrifying VR experience that brought new life to the iconic franchise. Help Wanted 2 improves on the original game and has several new minigames that bring players face-to-face with characters and locations from the series’ past.
