The upcoming Psychological Horror game Luto is getting a PS5 demo this month ahead of its release next year.

Publisher SelectaPlay and developer Broken Bird Games announced the PlayStation demo today in a press release. The demo, called ‘The Choice’ will release on the PlayStation Store on November 30th. The standalone demo for Luto will give players a chance to experience the atmosphere and narrative without spoiling the full game.

Luto was first announced back in 2021 as part of PlayStation Spain’s PlayStation Talents initiative. The game was also featured at this year’s Future Games Show. You can watch the Future Games Show trailer below.

Luto has been in development for a while. When I first added the game to the PlayStation Fanatic Games Database, the release year was supposed to be 2022. So it seems that it has gone back into the oven for a bit more cooking time. It’s always a good thing when developers cook their games for a bit longer, it means you are getting a much better game when it eventually comes out.

At the time of writing, Luto is currently planned to release next year.

A story of despair

Luto is a first-person psychological-horror narrative experience. In the game, players embody a person living in despair and unable to leave their house. I think a lot of us have probably suffered from despair at some point and been unable to leave our house because we have lost hope because of something. So Luto could end up being one of those games where you can directly link its main themes with our own experiences.

In the game, finding a way out of your house will lead the player down a series of paths and will challenge our senses and uncover untold fears and phobias.

  • Explore the pain of losing a loved one, the horror of the insecurity to the darkness that lurks behind the anxiety and depression.
  • Enter a mysterious place full of secrets to discover and challenges to face. Deciphering it all will not be an easy task. Will you be able to tell fact from fiction?
  • Discover an environmental and sensory horror where you will experience the fear of numerous phobias.

The Luto demo will be available on the PlayStation Store on November 30th. The full game is scheduled to be released sometime next year.
