Great news for PSVR2 owners today. The Resident Evil 4 VR mode will be launching a lot sooner than fans probably expected. The PS VR2 mode which will take full advantage of Sony’s next-gen VR headset will launch next week on December 8th.

Resident Evil Village’s VR mode was praised by both fans of the Resident Evil series and PS VR2 owners for its detailed graphics and terrifying gameplay. In VR, it seems that Village has set a high bar, here’s hoping Resident Evil 4’s VR mode raises the bar further. Resident Evil 4’s VR mode is by the same development team that brought us Resident Evil 7 and Villages VR mode, so this will likely be an absolute VR must-play.

I picked up Resident Evil 4 for £27 on Amazon’s Black Friday sale, I am glad I got it when I did as it looks like it has sold out on Amazon UK.

Capcom has written on the PlayStation Blog to reveal the release date for Resident Evil 4 VR mode as well as provide additional details. The VR mode will be a free DLC just like Resident Evil Village’s VR mode. If you don’t own the full game on PS5 then Capcom has you covered. There will also be a free VR mode demo released at the same time as the DLC. The demo will give you a taster of the opening village scene and the shooting range.

Resident Evil 4 VR Mode could be PSVR2’s next-best thing

From the short gameplay seen in the launch trailer above and from what Capcom describes in the PlayStation Blog post, RE 4’s VR Mode could be PS VR2’s next must-play game. Every weapon from teh story is represented in incredible detail Capcom said and they have intuitive controls to keep players immersed at all times.

RE4 VR Mode promises to heighten your senses with the PS VR2 Sense controller haptics feeling different for each weapon. Whether it’s a pistol, machine gun or even your trusty knife, each weapon will have it’s own feel. Resident Evil’s puzzle solving is also present in the VR mode and puzzles are sure to feel a lot more immersive as well in VR.

Each weapon will feel unique in Resident Evil 4 VR mode thanks to the PS VR2 Sesne controller haptics

Resident Evil 4 VR Mode’s game director Keisuke Yamakawa had this to say about the mode:

Resident Evil 4 VR Mode takes advantage of advanced technology and features of PlayStation VR2, combined with the experience our development team has gained from previous Resident Evil VR titles, to allow players to truly become Leon and use a variety of weapons with their own hands to take on enemies which feel like they are standing right in front of you. This unique experience is only possible in VR, so with the free demo for all players and the DLC releasing for free for owners of the full game, anyone with a PlayStation VR2 can experience how VR deepens the survival horror. I hope you enjoy the thrills and scares of this game, in which survival is just the beginning of the nightmare.

Resident Evil 4 VR mode for PS VR2 is out on December 8th. There will also be a PS VR2 demo available oat the same time.
