Horizon Call of the Mountain, the PS VR2 launch title that saw us climbing mountains and scaling cliffs in Virtual Reality has won Best VR Game at the 41st Golden Joystick Awards.

The Guerrilla Games and Firesprite developed VR game, which takes place in the Horizon universe was up against some stiff competition. Also nominated in the Best VR game category were Synapse, The Light Brigade and Vertigo 2.

But, PS VR2’s Horizon Call of the Mountain managed to climb and grapple hook its way into the hearts of VR gamers. The game was selected as the winner in the best VR game category by a public vote, so it is clear that PS VR2 owners thought that Horizon Call of the Mountain had indeed reached new heights.

Aloy in Horizon Call of the Mountain

In Call of the Mountain, you play as Ryas, a former warrior of the Shadow Carja. And although you don’t get to play as Aloy in this game, you do meet her.

In my review of Call of the Mountain, I commented that it was a great VR game and a fantastic showcase for PS VR2. But it had a bit too much climbing and not enough combat and exploration.

Horizon Call of the Mountain wasn’t the only PS VR2 winner at this year’s Golde Joystick Awards. The PlayStation VR2 itself won Best Gaming Hardware.
