New Astro’s Playroom Details: Will Have 4 Worlds, 4-5 Hours Gameplay

Return of the Astro Bot

Some new details on Astro’s Playroom have been revealed in an interview with Japan Studio head Nicolas Doucet by Japanese gaming site Famitsu.

Recently, some Japanese YouTubers got some gameplay time with Astro’s Playroom. The game looks pretty fun, very similar to Astro Bot Rescue Mission, minus the VR experience.

Now some new details about the game have been revealed.

Astro’s Playroom will feature four worlds, all named after different components of the PS5.

  • COOLING Resort (Cooling Springs)
  • GPU Jungle
  • SSD Speedway
  • MEMORY Sky

The world names are translated from Japanese using Google translate, so may not be 100% accurate. Cooling Springs was shown during the Geoff Keighley demo.

Each world will feature a special powerup, such as a jet pack. The Jetpack can be controlled with the left and right triggers of the DualSense. With each trigger controlling one of the thrusters and you can feel the thruster boost while pressing the triggers.

There will also be a gun powerup and a “Monkey Power Suit”, again, possibly poor translation but probably means the thing with the big spring seen in the gameplay.

Also revealed in the Famitsu interview was the playtime of Astro’s Playroom. The developer reckons that the game will take about 4 to 5 hours to complete. Which is pretty good for a completely free game.

Astro’s Playroom Secrets

Astro’s Playroom will also have plenty of PlayStation elated collectables and secrets according to the developer. There will be lots of things to collect that pay homage to the 26 years of PlayStation. There will also be a pleasing surprise if you clear everything in the game.

Also, I can’t say in detail, but if you clear everything, there is a surprise that PlayStation fans will be pleased with.

We’ll need to wait until we get our hands on the game for ourselves to find out what this secret could be.

Astro’s Playroom will come pre-installed on your PS5, so you’ll need to wait until your console arrives to play it. That’ll be November 19th for the UK and Europe but if you’re in the USA and other parts of the world you get to play it a week early on the 12th of November.
