GamesIndustry.biz using data provided by sales compiler GFK has revealed that Sony’s PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console in the UK in December. Sales figures show that even though sales fell by 19% compared to November the PS5 was still the UK’s favourite gaming console.
2023 was a big year for the PS5 in the United Kingdom. Sony’s console accounted for 51% of all console sales in the six months to November. Comfortable beating out the Switch and Xbox to be the UK’s most popular gaming machine.
PS5 exclusives such as Spider-Man 2 also regularly topped the UK PS5 Boxed Charts.
GamesIndustry.biz data also shows that the PS5 DualSense controller also dominated accessory sales, thanks to strong PS5 console sales. The OG white DualSense was the number one selling controller while the Midnight Black DualSense was number 2.
According to GFK data, the PS4 also had a pretty decent month in December. This made the DualShock 4 re-enter the top 10 best-selling accessories at number 7.
