Ubisoft has announced Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 is happening and will be led by Julian Gerighty who has been appointed Executive Producer for The Division brand. The announcement that The Division 3 was a thing was revealed in a tweet by Massive Entertainment, developers of The Division and The Division 2.
Fans of The Division games will probably have to wait a while for The Division 3 to launch, however, as it sounds like Julian Gerighty still has to build a team to develop the game. “A core focus of Gerighty’s is to build a team for Tom Clancy’s The Division 3, which will be led by Massive Entertainment,” a Ubisoft blog post says.
So it sounds like The Division 3 hasn’t even started development yet or is in the very early concept phase.
Ubisoft also currently has The Division Heartland, a free-to-play game set in Tom Clancy’s The Division Universe in development. Heartland doesn’t have a release date yet but is supposed to launch at some point next year.
The announcement of a third The Division game is certainly very welcome news. Although I didn’t play much of the first game, I put over 200 hours into The Division 2, especially during the Pandemic and lockdown. I really liked the open-world, RPG aspects of the game and the shooting mechanics were pretty great too. So I’ll be looking forward to more news on The Division 3 when it arrives.
