Update: Christopher Judge has posted to Twitter to clarify that Santa Monica Studio never asked him to voice match original Kratos voice actor TC Carson. The judge said that it was another game that asked him to voice match. The Kratos voice actor also said “The respect for what he [TC Carson] did as Kratos goes from top to bottom.
Christopher Judge was responding to clarify things after this story was picked up by several other media outlets a day after it was published by PlayStation Fanatic.

If you have played the new God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla DLC you’ll probably know there is a cutscene at the end where old Kratos (Kratos from God of War 2018 onward) is speaking to young Kratos from the earlier games. If you have watched this cutscene you may be wondering why young Kratos does not speak during the entire scene.
Well, this is because the current voice actor for Kratos Christopher Judge refused to voice young Kratos out of respect for the original voice actor TC Carson.
Answering a question during an interview, Judge said that he thought it would be a disservice to try and voice match him (TC Carson).
Christopher Judge continued to say that he was offered something “not too long ago” but he had to turn it down because they (presumably Santa Monica Studio) wanted him to voice match the original Kratos character and he said, “Absolutely not”.
“I was actually offered something not too long ago and I had to turn it down because they wanted me to somewhat match the voice of that character,” Judge said. “Like I love this dude [TC Carson], like that would be such a slight.”
The Kratos voice actor continued to say that it is inherently wrong to try to commandeer something that someone has already established.
So that is why young Kratos does not speak in the ending cutscene of the God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla DLC. However, by progressing through the story beats you can unlock the young Kratos appearance and still hear Chris Judge’s voice.
