Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been nominated in seven categories at this year’s The Game Awards, including Game of the Year.
Insomniac Games’ superhero blockbuster launched to critical acclaim on October 20th. The game has since sold over 5 million copies in the first ten days of launch. It also became PlayStation Studios’ fastest-selling game ever, selling 2.5 million copies in its first 24 hours.
Insomniac’s dedication to perfection has certainly paid off, not only is Spider-Man 2 on track to be a massive seller and overall hit with fans, but it is also being recognised as the masterpiece it is by The Game Awards.
Not only has Spider-Man 2 been nominated for Game of the Year but it is also nominated in several other categories. These include Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Innovation in Accessibility and Best Action Adventure. Peter Parker actor Yuri Lowenthal is also up for the Best Performance award.
In the Game of the Year category, the Spider-Men face some tough competition. Also nominated are Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Bu we are confident that Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 will swing kick the completion to the side and emerge triumphant.
11 Nominations for PlayStation
Spider-Man 2 isn’t the only PlayStation game to be nominated at this year’s The Game Awards. Also up for awards are Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon Call of the Mountain for Best VR/AR. Horizon Call of the Mountain recently won Best VR Game at this year’s Golden Joysticks, so is in a good position to nab an award at The Game Awards.
Other PlayStation Nominees include the Gran Turismo film and The Last of Us TV show which are both up for Best Adaption.
