Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released on October 20th and is the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in history. Insomniac’s superhero masterpiece and its third Spider-man game sold 2.5 million in its first 24 hours. New sales information released today from Sony’s Financial Year 23 Q2 report shows that Spider-Man 2 sold an incredible 5 million units in the first 10 days.
Information released from Sony’s investor relations shows that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sold over 5 million units as of October 30th. That’s just 10 days after the game released exclusively on PlayStation 5.
Sony’s supplementary information which shows cumulative sell-through for PS4 and PS5 games, shows that Spider-Man 2 is on track to surpass PS4’s Marvel’s Spider-Man in sales.
PS4’s Marvel’s Spider-Man has sold 3.1 million units in the three days since its release. After 80 days Spider-Man on PS4 had sold an impressive 9.00 units. But if Spider-Man 2 sales continue at the current rate it will most likely surpass Spider-Man sales quite easily.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has certainly been a big hit for Sony and a big hit with gamers. The game has been at the top of the UK PS5 boxed charts since its launch and garnered critical praise with a 90 on Metacritic.
