At the beginning of the month, it was reported that PlayStation fans who had bought Discovery TV shows from the PlayStation Store would be losing access to them. On December 1st, Sony sent a message to users who had purchased Discovery TV shows like Shark Week and Deadliest Catch would not be able to access this digital content after December 31st.

This was due to licensing agreements expiring with Warner Brothers, the owners of Discovery. This would have resulted in PlayStation users losing access to hundreds of Discovery channel TV shows, even ones they had purchased.

Thankfully, it looks like Sony has updated its licensing agreement with Warner Brothers and Discovery, so the removal of this content is no longer happening. Nice one Sony.

Sony updated its PlayStation support page on the matter with the following statement on December 21st. “Due to updated licensing arrangements, the Discovery content removal planned for December 31, 2023 is no longer occurring. We appreciate your ongoing support and feedback.”
