PS5 Conosle will also be avaialble in a digital only edition

PS5 Price, release date and pre-order details

The PS5 Future of Gaming Reveal event is now over. It is literally hype overload. Not only did we see an absolute ton of amazing games, including a new Spider-Man game and Horizon: Forbidden West. Sony also revealed the PlayStation 5 Console Design.

PS5 console design revealed

The PS5 console looks absolutely amazing with a two-tone black and white finish like the DualSense controller. The console features sleek curves and is shown standing in the vertical position.

From first impressions, it appeared that the PS5 might only be able to be stood in the vertical position. However, someone on twitter posted the below image of the PS5 sitting in the horizontal position.

It looks like you can remove the stand which can be seen at the base of the PS5 in the vertical position and place the console on it in a horizontal position.

There is no denying that the PS5 console will look good whether standing vertically or sitting horizontally.

I’ve adjusted the brightness and contrast on the image above to try and show the PS5 console ports in more detail.

On the upper part of the console, there is what appears to be a standard USB port and a smaller port beneath it. Perhaps a USB type-c? There is also two other ports or port-looking things on the bottom half. I’m not sure what these are though.

The stylish looking PS5 console also features thin blue LED lights at the top of the console. They are situated at the vents in the central black part of the console.

Two PS5 Console Editions

The PlayStation 5 Console will be available as two different editions. There will be a regular edition which will feature the 4K UHD Blu-Ray Drive and a Digital only edition. The Blu-Ray Drive edition will be ideal for game collectors who prefer physical disc games over digital. The digital-only edition will be suited to players who prefer to download games from the PlayStation Store.

Both editions of the PS5 console look identical, with the exception of the Digital edition which looks like it may be slightly thinner, due to the lack of a Blu-Ray disc slot.

PS5 Accessories

Sony also revealed a range of PlayStation 5 accessories which should be launching alongside the PS5 console this Holiday. Alongside the console and DualSense Controller, there will also be the following accessories:

  • DualSense Charging Station
  • HD Camera
  • Pulse 3D Wireless Headset
  • Media Remote

The DualSense charging Station will likely be an essential accessory to keep the controllers charged up during long play sessions. The HD Camera will likely be for social video calling and streaming to Twitch. The Pulse 3D wireless headset also seems like an essential buy to take advantage of the PS5’s 3D audio capabilities. And the media remote will be essential for chilling out watching Netflix after a hard days gaming.

No price or specific release date has been revealed yet for the PS5 consoles or the accessories. And as far as I can see, no online retailer has any PS5 pre-orders up yet.

Undoubtedly the price and specific release date of the PlayStation 5 won’t be too far away. Perhaps July or August at the latest.

For now, just ogle at the amazing looking console in the gallery above and decide which edition and accessories you want to buy.
