Recent UK game sales data compiled by GamesIndustry.biz states that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was the best-selling game in the UK for October. The data also says that the PS5 is still the UK’s favourite console for the fifth consecutive month.

Data compiled and analysed by GamesIndustry.biz from both GfK and GSD sales data confirms that Spider-man 2 was the best-selling new game in October. GI.biz on combining both sets of sales data has seen that sales of Spider-Man 2 within its first 2 weeks were 9% lower than that of Spider-Man on PS4(2018). It’s worth noting that in 2018 PS4 had a larger user base than PS5 does currently. PS4 had an approximate install base of ~90 million whereas PS5 has an install base of about 46 million.

Compared with last year’s God of War Ragnarok, sales of Spider-Man 2 on PS5 were 2% higher in the first two weeks. God of War Ragnarok was also available on PS4 as well as PS5 when it launched. Spider-Man 2 is a PS5-only game.

56% of all PS5s sold in the UK last month were for the EA Sports FC 24 bundle. The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 bundle accounted for 6% of all PS5’s sold.

Sony has recently launched the new PS5 slim model in the United States. The PS5 maker has not yet revealed when the slimmer update to the PS5 will be released in the UK and Europe. The company has also just released PlayStation Portal, a handheld PS5 remote player, which has seen some mixed reviews.

Last week it was reported that the PlayStation 5 accounted for 51% of all UK consoles sold in the last six months. Data suggests the PS5 is still the UK’s favourite console selling ahead of Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
